青铜圆鼎是中国青铜器中延续时间最长的器类，从商代以前一直延续到汉代，因此，圆鼎的铸造工艺具有很强的纵向可比性；同时，圆鼎又是当时最具有代表性的器物，它的铸造工艺应该代表了一个时期青铜器冶铸工艺的主流。

新干青铜器群中共有二十一件圆鼎，按鼎足的形状可分为锥足圆鼎、柱足圆鼎和扁足圆鼎三大类。从青铜鼎形制的演变看，最先出现的是锥足鼎，商代之前就已使用；尔后出现的是柱足鼎，在商代前期已经出现；而扁足鼎的出现要较晚一些，大约是商代的后期。
There are twenty-one round tripod in Xingan Bronze Wares Group. According to the shape of tripod foot, it can be divided into three categories: cone-footed round tripod, column-footed round tripod and flat-footed round tripod. From the perspective of the evolution of the bronze tripod, the cone-footed tripod first appeared, which had been used before the Shang Dynasty; then the pillar-footed tripod appeared in the early Shang Dynasty; and the flat-footed tripod appeared later, probably in the late Shang Dynasty.
